I was born and raised in Wisner, Louisiana. My parents took me to church through my youth, but I just never made a commitment. When I was 13, a new friend of mine, Dennis Woodruff, invited me to church with him, I reluctantly decided to go. When we walked through the doors of the Wisner First Pentecostal Church, the first thing I heard was the great music, what I felt next was the awesome love from the people there. Looking back now I remember Jesus saying, “By this shall all men know that you are my disciples if you have love one for another.”
The singers sang and the presence of the Lord felt wonderful in that place. Then the preacher begin to preach, and although there were close to 400 people in attendance that night, I felt that he was talking and looking right at me. I felt God calling me, so I made the toughest and best decision of my life. I found myself at the alter, crying and repenting of my sins.
Around 8:45 I was filled with the precious gift of the Holy Ghost. I have never before or since ever experienced anything close to being filled with God’s Holy Spirit.
All through school and college I lived for Jesus. Others would fall by the wayside, but my faith kept me going strong.
I married the pastor’s daughter of Apostolic Faith Chapel in Gilbert, LA. Together, Deborah and I worked with the music department in our local assembly. She directed the choir, I directed the music and praise team.
When I was 21 I felt God calling me into the ministry. The funny thing is, I didn’t tell anyone, except my wife. We tell each other everything. I prayed and studied trying to find God’s direction for my life. When I was 23, I finally surrendered to the ministry. I tried preaching like our pastor, our assistant pastor, I tried to be Carman, David Huff, nothing really worked until I decided to become myself.
Upon the advice of my pastor, I started using magical illusions, comedy, and drama in my preaching. Then things started really happening. When I became myself, using what talents God had given me, then He started opening doors for me.
In 1995, after a great career in broadcasting, we felt the need to be in the ministry full time. God has allowed us to travel all across the country presenting this great Gospel. Using comedy, drama, illusions, dowel ministry, sign language, what ever the message calls for, we present the Gospel to a lost world. Whether it’s a church, revival, youth camp, or where ever God takes us, we want to do our best for Him.
We’ve seen several people, young and old, come to Jesus through this ministry. We know it’s not us, but Christ working through us. All praise and honor goes to our Lord Jesus Christ. Although I’m on the road a lot, when I am home, I still get to help direct the praise team.
Deborah and I have four children, Natalie, Nate, Bethany, and Brionna. They help out all they can. Natalie in singing and signing, Nate in doing music, comedy, ventriloquism, and assisting his dad. Bethany sings and plays piano, and Brionna is a special Joy sent from Heaven.
When we’re close by, please come and pay us a visit.
Joshua Wilson
National KQ Assistant
My name is Josh Wilson, I am the assistant pastor at Faith Apostolic Church in Carmel, Indiana. Rev. Matthew Ball is my pastor. I am truly blessed to be able to minister at such a great church. The families who attend Faith Apostolic have been very kind to my wife and I. For them I am very grateful.
The Lord has blessed me with the opportunity to serve in several capacities within the Assemblies of the Lord Jesus Christ. I am currently serving as the Apostolic Crusaders Youth Corp Director and the Assistant Director of KidzQuest.
God has infused a passion in my spirit for domestic and world missions. The Lord has opened doors for me to minister all throughout the United States. I am very thankful for all the pastors who have allowed me to minister in their churches. Many pastors have sacrificed to allow me to be their guest. I hope and pray that God will bless every one of them.
In the past few years I have also traveled to different countries. I have seen the miraculous hand of God at work on many occasions.
I have a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University in General Studies/Humanities with a minor in American Politics.
In my leisure time I enjoy travelling, catching more fish than my pastor, reading, and watching the St. Louis Cardinals absolutely demolish the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. There is no better place to watch a baseball game than at Wrigley Field. I love hearing my grandmother who is an avid Cubs Fan say “there is always next year.”
Before all of these leisure activities I love to teach Bible studies. It is my opinion that there is nothing better than teaching the word of God to someone and then watching their lives being changed as they open their heart for the first time to a living and loving savior. I would rather teach a Bible study any day than visit a baseball game, read a book or go fishing.
In 2005 the Lord blessed me with the greatest blessing I have ever received after my salvation experience. He blessed me with my wonderful wife, Shelly (Mizell) Wilson from Bogalusa, LA. She is the most beautiful, supportive, prayerful and talented wife that any husband could ask for. I thank God all the time for Shelly she is a tremendous blessing. In 2012 we are expecting our first child.
